ECFA awards ROMY’S SALON in Warsaw

In the Kids Kino International Film Festival Warsaw (aka Kino Dzieci), the ECFA Jury awarded ROMY’S SALON by Mischa Kamp.

This film shows a lot of dignity in closing the gap between different generations and different social backgrounds. The excellence is both with the director, using elaborate framing to explain relationships between characters, as with the actors expressing their state of mind by using their eyes and body language. Mischa Kamp showed an impressive ability to transmit the core of a not so easy story without explaining in words.

A special mention was given to the Latvian animation JACOB, MIMMI AND THE TALKING DOGS by Edmunds Jansons, described as “a call to action for children to stand up and raise their voice so the world can hear them.

The ECFA Jury were Elisa Giovannelli (Cineteca di Bologna, Italy), Joanna Zak (Kids Kino Int. Film Festival, Poland) and Gert Hermans (JEF, Belgium).

In the upcoming ECFA Journal an interview with Maciej Jakubczyk will show how the Kino Dzieci Festival and the simultaneous Warsaw Kids Film Forum fit together.
