Six films were competing for the ECFA Award at the postponed ‘September edition’ of BUFF 2020 in Malmö, Sweden.
The award went to LIFE WITHOUT SARA AMAT (Laura Jou, Spain), a film that “captures the precise moment in time shifting from childhood to adolescence. Main characters are Sara, determinately setting her goals in life, and Pep suffering from loving and longing – this tale of discovery and growth will mark them for the rest of their lives. The poetic cinematography is stunning, sensual and intimate.”
The ECFA Jury were Ingrid Stensen (Tromsö Children’s Film Festival, Norway), Voro Huertas (MICE, Spain) and Anna Håkansson (Swedish Film Institute).
In a live broadcasted award ceremony, festival supporters saw how BUFF’s prestigious awards were given to among others LOS LOBOS (Samuel Kishi Leopo, Mexico – City of Malmö Award) and LOLA (Laurent Micheli, Belgium/France – Young People’s Jury Award & Church of Sweden Award).
