AleKino! nominates 2021’s last ECFA Award

The last ECFA Award nomination of the year came from Poznan, Poland, where the jury awarded the French animation CALAMITY – A CHILDHOOD OF MARTHA JANE CANNARY by Rémi Chayé.

The ECFA Jury were Yvonne Augustin (Zurich Film Festival, Switzerland), Catarina Ramalho (PLAY festival, Portugal) and Karolina Śmigiel (cultural creator, Poland). They awarded CALAMITY “for its outstanding original aesthetics and profound exploration of animation features. The young protagonist promotes diversity, respect and equality between the sexes. The story breaks with stereotypes, eludes genre patterns, and uses the formula of a Wild West movie but weaving a girl protagonist into it, who fights bravely for her family and her beliefs.” CALAMITY also received a Golden Goat Award as Best Feature for Children.
