New book on audiovisual content for children and young audiences in Scandinavia

This free to download edited collection  from Nordicom offers new perspectives on film and television for children and adolescents based on case studies of commissioning strategies, production frameworks, screen stories, and media use in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

There are chapters on notions of relevance and identification in screen content for children among DR commissioners, investigations of coming out stories, and several chapters on how public service broadcasters try to adapt and create engaging content in a media landscape marked by fierce competition from international platforms and players. While the focus is on television, several points in the analyses ought to be of more general interest. The book is edited by Pia Majbritt Jensen, Eva Novrup Redvall, and Christa Lykke Christensen as part of the Reaching Young Audiences research project.
